Why not read a copy of "The dot", a book by Peter Reynolds. This book, about a teacher who encourages a reluctant student to make her mark, is what inspired teacher Terry Shay in 2009 to start International Dot Day. It's a celebration of creativity and courage. So go ahead, draw a dot and make your mark!
We had 155 entries this year, so approximately half of the Hillhurst students entered! The contest was run a little differently this year. For the judging, a team of Hillhurst teachers and Natalie created a short list of bookmarks for each class’s entries and the short list for each class was given to another class to choose a winner. The entry with the second highest number of votes was deemed the runner-up. (Note a couple of classes had a tie for runner-up and one class unanimously picked one bookmark so that is why there is not always one runner-up per class). As you can see, there are some very talented artists at HIllhurst!
